Pilot Review: Shark

Synopsis:  Sebastian Stark just quit his old job of defense attorney after a shocking outcome in one of his cases and a personal epiphany, now looking for a job he receive a call from the LA city mayor office. When meeting the city mayor, he has an offer for a new job, director of the Los Angeles DA’s high-profile crime unit, but with a twist, he would have to train a new team of inexperienced lawyers by using years of experiences, tactics and by practicing in Stark tribunal in his home. The only goal of this team is to put the bad guys in jail but during all this Stark past will be a problem we will learn why.

Timeslot: Thursdays at 10PM, CBS.

I have one word for Shark:  underwhelming.

Yet another show with a rich cast and potential, but no reasons to think it’ll be any good.  The bright spot is James Woods who’s obviously having a good time.  However there’s no character development with any of the cast and unfortunately Woods can’t carry the show on his shoulders(although I’m sure his ego is big enough to attempt it).

Jeri Ryan is wasted and I’m absolutely terrified the show will eventually pair her up with Woods.  The idea of James Woods and Jeri Ryan in a love scene together pretty much makes me want to get sick.  The cases are alright, but really no different than any other procedural.  Woods’ character has a cute relationship with his daughter, but it really feels like they’re trying to copy the relationship Veronica and Keith have on Veronica Mars.  Neither actors on Shark are up to that challenge.

My suggestion, watch the first episode and see if it’s your cup of tea, but it certainly wasn’t mine.

When this show is on, I only look up from my newspaper when I see Jeri Ryan. LOVE Jeri, HATE Woods, HATE the Show, taking Toto leaving Kansas.

Aaaah, this show is not my cup of tea .. James Woods deserves something better, charismatic and intelligent, he’s definitely my cup of tea 😀
